Factions

Players in Galaxy Blitz can choose from four factions for their galactic conquest ambitions, each of which possess their own unique skills, attributes habitats, resources, weapons and features.

The Talus Alliance

As the first AI to pass the Turing test, the “Source Brain” was created in 2111 in the labs of The Orange Company, a company owned by the richest man on Mars Ylong Lusk. The expectation was that this revolutionary AI would be put to use in economic activities such as interstellar mineral mining and interstellar travel. However, Ylong had very different aspirations, choosing instead to weaponize robots on a unprecedented scale.

After four years of preparation, and to thunderous applause from the Supreme Council of the Mars Federation, Ylong Lusk proclaimed the independence of Mars and assumed his position as its’ first Head of State and thus the first of three wars of independence was declared. Ten of millions of mass produced battle robots descended on Earth for the cause of Martian independence.

The Martians imagined a swift victory, anticipating the Secretary General of the United Earth Republic to sign the Mars independence agreement within 10 days. However they had underestimated the resolve and military capabilities of their former rulers, with their battle robots often being outgunned by the elite troops of the opposition. Faced with the rising success of the United Republic of Earth in suppressing the independence movement on Mars, Ylong Lusk decided that a battle robot without an independent mind resulted in a huge tactical

disadvantage. In a moment of either madness of ingenuity he decided to upload his own consciousness to a battle robot via a brain-computer interface, thereby giving the intelligent machine a "personality."

Following the example set by leader, fellow Martians yearning for Mars’ independence joined the war by uploading their own consciousnesses to the battle robots. The combination of the deadly robots brimming with weaponry with the intelligence and independent thinking of humans quickly proved too much for the United Earth Republic to defend against, and their armies and key population centers were quickly overrun, thus forcing them to agree to the Martians demands and grant them their independence.

In the wake of their hard fought independence, it became popular for Martians whom were nearing the end of the biological lifespan to achieve immortality by uploading their consciousness to mechanical forms, thus forming a new kind of species, a melding of human and machine. With their independence gained and the limits of their former biological bodies behind them, the Martians migrated to Alpha Centauri and took on the name the Talus.

The Scourge

Following their successive defeats in the War of Independence for Mars, Jupiter and the Asteroids, the United Earth Republic underwent a period of intense reflection, culminating in their view of themselves as the only “purebred” representation of humanity. Draconian laws were passed prohibiting any change to the human form whether it be mechanical or otherwise.

Realizing that the Republic had a long arduous road ahead to reclaim their former colonies, the need for “cannon fodder” troops to supplement limited forces remaining on Earth became a priority. In order to meet this requirement, a state-of-the-art laboratory

was established solely for the purpose of developing a suitable silicon-based organism that could be easily mass produced and fill the role of cannon fodder that was so desperately needed.

Researchers in the laboratory were able to domesticate and weaponize a silicon-based carnivorous aquatic species originating from the irradiated planet of Trappist-2 and genetically edited combat skills, knowledge and implanted human intelligence genes onto these fearsome creatures. These bred for war monsters were then transported to strategic military locations throughout the Republic to be used a front line weapons in the interstellar colonization war.

Some time later the United Earth Republic was renamed the Silicon-based Alliance after the expansion of its vast colony in the Captain Star Territory. Since then, these monsters known as the Scourge being forced into battle have become the symbol of the might of the The Scourge.

The Centra

Known as the shortest race that is vying for predominance in the interstellar colonial wars, the Centra have long been touchy about their size and the reduced capabilities of their human bodies. A vastly intelligent race, with superior technology and political structures, these perceived inadequacies speed up a process which saw the Centra focus major parts of their research and development capabilities on merging man with machine, of creating a faction whose power could make the pre-ordained nature of the human body irrelevant.

In an effort to create a human weapon unlike any other, the Centra started experimenting withbiological evolution, hoping to speed up the process of advancing their mental and physical capacities. These experiments resulted in the creation of the Centra faction as they are known in Galaxy Blitz, a warrior race that makes use of high-energy organisms that allow humans to morph into the highest, most advanced form of humanity known in the Universe.

They live on or close to neutron stars and white dwarfs, as a means to accessing the huge reservoirs of energy that are required for their partial morphology. Their houses and places of residence are made of the metal that can be found on these stellar bodies, and the Centra have been known to ingest liquid neutron fluid for sustenance or a power boost when needed. Anyone that gets in their way will suffer the wrath of the faction’s medium, long or ultra long attacks.

The Endari Federation

Prior to their eventual independence, the sole purpose of the human immigrants in the colonized asteroid belts were to continuously mine a steady stream of solar energy for Earth, Jupiter and Mars. Due to their inherent disadvantages in terms of technology when compared to their rivals as well as having a lower population base, the Asteroid Federation could not maintain pace with the speed of colonization of the Earth, Jupiter and Mars Alliances.

Needing desperately to find another method to colonize a large number of stars or else face their demise, the esteemed scientist VB of the Asteroid Federation through his genius and a stroke of luck managed to cultivate plasma based elemental organisms on some of

the minor stars located nearby the colonized asteroids. These elemental organisms live among the gas on these stars and have evolved to dispense the massive reserves of energy they possess within. VB christened his creation the Endari.

Their mastery of devastating energy attacks, resistance to gravity and even telekinesis give the Endari a huge advantage and allow them to attack huge tracts of land. The nomadic lifestyle of these lifeforms sees them move from planet to planet and star to star, usually enjoying planets with a hot climate and/or some form of fire. They spit out energy at random when they are too full, and to be within walking distance of an Endari can be grievously dangerous for untrained humans.
